thirty-first jump;

CHARACTERS: Any and all.
LOCATION: Gravity Couches and beyond.
WARNINGS: Maybe some swearing, or even some violence, and more than likely some implied (and possibly explicit) nakedness.
SUMMARY: Another month, another jump, another round of new faces.
NOTES: There is something very easy about waking from the gravcouches this month. The sensation of being watched is absent, and so is much of the sickness - even for those characters who entered Engineering in February. Instead the jump feels comfortable, the stasis fluid warm on your skin, the medbay lights not too harsh as you emerge amongst your fellow passengers. The sensation may be unnerving in its strangeness, but there will be a deep feeling of being well-rested, calm and content, that will not be completely lost no matter how much you question it.

----------------

You wake up in darkness.

There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.

You are not alone.

There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. Others have much less amiable plans. Some are merely alien and inexplicable, but there are always those who might mean you harm.

After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.

If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.

This is your welcome party.

[Galadriel is subdued-more so than usual- but Lucrezia receives a smile anyway.]

My pardon you already have, but I will not turn away your company, pinig.

It would be my honor and my pleasure, Lady Galadriel.

[ and she curtsies, offers her arm as a young knight or lord would do with a smile. ]

How did the Jump find you?
inafadingcrown: (soft as moonlight)

[personal profile] inafadingcrown 2014-05-12 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
[And she accepts her arm with a little smile of her own.] It found me well enough. Not nearly so well as it found you, I imagine.

I have planted some seeds in the gardens and found them growing before the jump came about. I was eager to see if they are well, perhaps they have grown taller. they will have strawberries one day, certainly.

[ she smiles. little comforts, these are. ]

Do you wish to see them?
inafadingcrown: (Warm as sunlight)

[personal profile] inafadingcrown 2014-05-14 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
I would, of course. [Her expression warms slightly.] I had quite a lovely garden in Lórien, you know. Would that I could show it to you.
mansuetus: (☩ 42.)

What did you grow in it? tell me and I shall close my eyes and imagine it and it shall almost be as if I walk there. Did they name the garden after you? you were without doubts its loveliest guest.

[ for there is no one in any realm as lovely as lady galadriel. ]

Oh, many things- flowers of all kinds, of course, fruits and vegetables; we even have our own vineyard.

[A little laugh- Lucrezia, you are not obligated to flatter her every time you talk to her.] Indeed, I believe most would refer to them simply as 'the Lady's gardens,' though I imagine that had little enough to do with how lovely I may or may not be.
mansuetus: (☩ 60.)

[personal profile] mansuetus 2014-05-23 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[ not obligated, inspired!! galadriel is much too lovely not to inspire sweetness out of her. loveliest being in any realm, hands down. ]

Will you do the same here? You must. You can grow whatever it is you care for and we shall call it the Lady's Gardens as well and none shall disturb its peace.

Perhaps I shall; It might brighten my spirits. [Which reminds her-] I have a dear friend who I believe you should meet. Lúthien is her name. Have you spoken?
mansuetus: (☩ 54.)

[personal profile] mansuetus 2014-05-26 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Not yet, my Lady, though I have heard her name.

[ from the elvenking himself. that the lady galadriel mentions her too makes lucrezia wonder how lovely and beautiful she is to be loved so by two so eternal in their beauty and good nature. ]

From the Elvenking, would you introduce us?
inafadingcrown: (Counsel)

[personal profile] inafadingcrown 2014-05-27 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
I would and gladly. [A pause.] May I ask what Thranduil has said to you? There are some elements of Lúthien's tale- many, in fact- which she has not yet lived and I would spare her foreknowledge of the woes to come.
mansuetus: (☩ 09.)

[personal profile] mansuetus 2014-05-27 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing of her tale, fair Lady, only that she is very beautiful. I told him of Tauriel, beautiful and graceful in her manners and he thought I have spoken of Lúthien.

[ she is good, Galadriel is. Lucrezia had asked for knowledge when so many have tried to do the same. ]

The future is a heavy burden. You are kind to shelter her from her own.
inafadingcrown: (Counsel)

[personal profile] inafadingcrown 2014-05-27 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[A soft smile] You must have praised Tauriel highly. Lúthien is the fairest of us by far.

[Galadriel glances over at Lucrezia. For once, she is uncertain and it shows in her face.]

Do you truly think so? There are some who would say that it is her right to know. Yet, I have lived with the gift of foresight all my life and often have I wished to know less than I did.
