The Wedding of Bill & Laura

CHARACTERS: The Roslins, Leia Organa, Bail Organa, and basically everyone ever.
LOCATION: Oxygen Gardens!
WARNINGS: To be updated, but general merriment? Marriage?
SUMMARY: Laura and Bill are finally getting married! Come celebrate, even if you don't know them. NO CYLONS ALLOWED.
NOTES: Cylons better actually arrive.

It was as beautiful a day in space as you could get, the day Laura and Bill deigned to get married. The Oxygen Gardens were decked out in chairs, flowers (blue, purple and white), and a beautiful arch for the two of them to get married under. It's a down-right Presidential affair. Or as close to it as you can get.

Before the ceremony itself, there's time to mingle, and afterwards, there will of course be food and dancing, supplied by the various people on the Tranquility.

Almost Everyone is invited, because, well, it's about frakkin' time we had a reason to celebrate on this ship.

Muscovy doesn't know who is getting married. He doesn't really know anyone among the people celebrating, either (he spotted the guy with the daughter who is older than she should be, so there's someone whom he has at least spoken to, but that is about it). But he knows that it is a celebration, and there is a feast, and it seems like a proper marriage feast which means that all who happen to come by are invited. And he's in the gardens anyway and is too used to food being precious to turn down free food.

So there's a boy sitting at one of the tables with a big plate of various foods before him, slowly but with determination emptying that plate. He stops every once in a while and just people watches, listens in to conversations, follows the same person with his eyes for a while, and just enjoys the general merriment around him. It is nice when people are lively.

Bill doesn't recognize the boy, but that doesn't matter. They wanted to give everyone a chance to celebrate. It was good for morale, and they needed a boost after the past month.

He hasn't been straying from Laura very far, but they have a lot of guests to speak with. So he approaches the boy, still looking quite well put together in his full dress uniform. "Having a good time?"

The braided head bobs up and down while Muscovy swallows to free his mouth for words. It is rude to talk with his mouth full, he has been taught, and he's trying to not be rude towards the people that probably organizes the food. Even with food being technically free here.

"It is very lively and happy."

"We were hoping to bring a little joy to the ship." They couldn't have predicted just how dire the mood would be when they'd set the wedding date. But all the more reason to seize the opportunity to celebrate. You learned a lot about managing morale, at the end of the world.

"You succeeded. People are happy." He peers at him curiously. "My aunt said that some people marry very late in other worlds, but you two are really old. You don't look like you can have children anymore." As a couple, that is.

Bill raises an eyebrow at such a blunt statement. While it's true, it's hardly been a factor in the decision. "We have a Fleet to look after. That's children enough for any couple."

"And the fleet will look after you when you're too old to look after yourselves?" It's a rhetorical question, because that is the serious flaw that he perceives in that logic. Sure, there are people that aren't married at all, but they usually live with people that are married in hopes of them helping them out when they're old.

"They will. Every human life matters." Though who knows if either of them will live that long. Though he still believes she can beat the cancer. But they live dangerous lives. Everyone in the Fleet does.

"And besides, I have a son." One son still living. He was luckier than many. As strained as things were over the trial, he knew Lee would be there if anything happened.

He nods. Okay, then that isn't a problem at all. "Your son is here?" Not that he really expects it, but considering how many members of his lord father's family had been around at one point he wouldn't even be really surprised.

Bill shakes his head. "I wish he could be here for this." It still seemed wrong to get married without so many of their dearest from home present. But there was no telling what the future would bring. Sometimes you just had to work with the situation you had.

"You can make a second celebration when you are home so he can see, too." He's witnessed such things before with people that had a lot of money and had to get married twice - obviously they would not truly be married more than one time, but there would still be a affirmation ceremony later on.
